My name is Daren Wang. When people ask me what I do these days, I usually say I'm a writer. That's easier than trying to describe the odd mix of projects I take on. I write, produce events, produce radio and film projects, and try to find interesting ways to engage the world. I've listed a few projects I'm working on or which you might know me for.
Exulting culinary excellence in the American South.
An annual culinary award conceived during the COVID-19 lockdown to celebrate and provide a new platform for the leading voices in the culinary arts who emerged during this trying reality. We honor them for fresh and original work that delights their guests, inspires their peers, and pushes forward the meaning of Southern food. The awards are paired with intimate dinners to showcase the culinary talents of the featured chef honorees.
Launching Fall 2021
This Postage Stamp of Native Soil is a history and film project exploring the history of Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia through its families, landscapes, tribes, and people. The aim is to focus on a small geography, a postage stamp so to speak, exploring the many layers of history and pre-history that underly the current landscape. Film to premiere in Spring 2022.
